Microphone Cable can i use microphone jack cables for a bass, (ordered guitar jack, recieved microphone cable jack)?
i ordered a 6m guitar lead from cpc for my bass, i payed 50p more for this as ordering a 6m jack cable could have meant recieving the wrong kind, i know that speaker leads have different wiring to guitar/bass leads, the lead i recieved is a 6m jack that just says microphone cable in small print along it, please reply as to if it will affect sound quality
thanks
jakob
Yes, it will make a subtle difference in your sound quality.
you will certainly want to exchange it for an instrument cable.
Gold wiring and jacks will give you the best quality sound.

Is it possible to buy a cable for a usb microphone so I can hook it up to my camcorder?
I'm just wondering if such a cable exists. I have a Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser microphone. The connector into the mic itself is not a usb hub. It's a special type of connector (similar to a usb but isn't one). So, is it possible to buy a cable for it so I can hook it up to my external mic jack on my camcorder? Thanks!
Nope, not possible for several reasons. The key reason is that this is an electret condenser-type microphone with a built-in preamp that requires power. There would be no place to put batteries or some other source of power to run the preamp.
Xlr Cables How would you wire a cable to convert XLR Out to 2 Wire Speakers from a Mixer?
I have a Mackie Mixer Board that has XLR Outs on it for the main out. I was wondering if there is a way to wire these directly to a pair of 2 wire speaker terminals or if I need some other piece of equipment in between them for this to work properly.
3-pin XLR connectors have long been the preferred choice of audio equipment manufacturers, most often in pro sound applications, whenever balanced (or AES3 digital) audio interconnections are desired for LINE-LEVEL audio signals. Depending on whether your loudspeakers are active or passive designs will dictate how you will be able to connect them to your audio equipment. For example you CANNOT directly connect passive loudspeakers (which appears to be what you’re using,) to a line-level audio output, such as the XLR outputs on your Mackie mixing console, nor can you connect the line-level input on an active loudspeaker to the high-level output on an audio power amplifier.
If you wish to connect a passive loudspeaker system to the 600Ω balanced (XLR) LINE OUT on your mixing console you will need an audio power amplifier with 600Ω balanced (XLR) line inputs (which are very common on pro sound audio power amplifiers,) in order to power your loudspeakers. However if the power amplifier you wish to use is equipped with unbalanced 1/4" (RCA phone-jack) line inputs—sans 600Ω balanced (XLR) line inputs—you will need to use an impedance matching balun - assuming your Mackie mixing console lacks unbalanced 1/4" (phone-jack) line outputs.
For high performance pro sound and studio applications you will often see a variety of (line-level) digital loudspeaker management controllers/systems within the audio signal path between the mixing console and the audio power amplifiers that power your loudspeaker system. Such controllers are typically interconnected through XLR audio connectors - either 600Ω balanced analog audio or 110Ω (AES/EBU) AES3-compliant digital audio connections.
The Velleman VTTEST15 Super-Test 10-Way audio cable tester enables quick and convenient continuity cable testing for all types of audio cables. Very nice (and rare) ability to test 5 pin XLR to 5 pin XLR that can also test between 5 pin and 3 pin XLR's -

What is the thickest gauge cable I can use to make XLR (Neutrik NC3MX/NC3FX) cables?
Does anyone know what the thickest gauge cable I can use to make XLR (Neutrik NC3MX/NC3FX) cables? This is going to be used to send signal to/from a digital crossover to amplifiers, not for a mic or instrument.
Probably around 16 gauge. Maybe 14 gauge if the insulation isn't too heavy. The problem is getting the complete cable through the rubber boot and into the connector. If the wire and insulation together creates a cable that's too heavy it's very difficult to do. Unless you're going a fairly long distance, there's no real need for a large cable.
Microphone Cable Types I have a USB microphone and the Type-A connector broke. Can I replace that adapter by splicing on a new one?
I have a USB microphone and the Type-A connector broke. Can I replace that adapter by splicing on a new one?
I'm essentially trying to avoid having to buy a whole new mirophone. It seems to me that since you can replace the adapters on Cat-5 cables, etc that you should be able to do this with a USB cable too for cheap.
The adapter is a type A adapter. On the other end is the microphone. There are no connectors inbetween.
I've never looked inside a USB cable, but if you can match up the wires, it should work. Just like you can match up the wires in a separated telephone cable to make it work again, if it's ripped out of the wall or cut - but nobody ever does that in the movies, do they?

Help With connecting Microphone to Telephone receiver?
I have a recording studio and I want to start making podcasts. The type of podcast I want to make is with people calling on the phone and asking questions/what-not. I need a telephone receiver that can take a Quarter inch input (TRS cable) so that I can send the output from my mixing board directly to the phone so that the caller can hear my voice coming thru a studio microphone rather than the regular phone. Also, I need this phone receiver to have a Quarter Inch/XLR output so that I can record from it or use headphones to listen instead of a phone speaker. Much appreciated
You need what is called in the radio industry, a telephone "Hybrid". It won't be cheap, necessarily.
What I would do is get Magicjack or Skype on a second computer, and hook that computer line in and out to the mixer.
In either case, an aux bus out goes to the caller's telephone circuit, and it has all channels but its input set up. That concept is called Mix-Minus, and you use that so callers can hear the program audio, except for themselves (which they somewhat here through their phone anyways.)

You'll know you're better when your swollen lymph nodes subside.
The throat soreness is worst during the first five to seven days of illness and then subsides over the next seven to 10 days. The swollen, tender lymph nodes generally subside by the third week.
Patients can continue to have virus particles present in their saliva for as long as 18 months after the initial infection.
