Quality headphones ideal for a holiday?


I have a pair of Sennheiser HD555's but don't want to take them on holiday because of their shear size and the fact that they leak so much noise.

Ideally I'd like a pair of headphones (not in ear!) that are small and comfortable to wear over long periods of time, that don't leak (too much) sound and are fairly robust. A pair of Sennheiser PX100's would be ideal if only they didn't leak so much sound!

Any ideas?

Try Sennheiser PXC300, with noise reduction system, they fold up neatly and bring their own carry case.

Any recommendations for some good headphones?


Looking for a pair of headphones that meet these criteria: under 60.00, comfortable, not too open because don't want sound to leak in and out, and covers the ear. These will be used for an ipod and a cd player mainly. Researched the Koss Portapro and Sennheiser PX100. Thoughts on the two or others would be great.

Somy are always top rate. Unfortunatley with $60 limit these are abut the only 3 brands you can get.

Sennheiser PXC 250 II

Sennheiser brings the PXC 250-II and thus the successor to the PXC 250 on the market. Like its predecessor, the headset uses active noise cancellation, which was further optimized and designed to reduce ambient noise even more effectively.

The technique is called "NoiseGard" and is used in aviation for some time. Into the headphone shells you have installed small microphones that pick up the sound of the environment. In parallel, the Sennheiser PXC 250-II produced a counter-sound. This "anti-sound" is to compensate for ambient noise. The noise suppression to enable a control panel that has been integrated into the cable. On the control unit can regulate the volume. Moreover, this court finds the AAA battery, it brings with active noise cancellation according to the manufacturer for a term of up to 50 hours. The Sennheiser PXC 250 are two batteries were needed.

Voice over Recording Equipment – How to Choose the Right Ones

It is very important to choose the right voice over recording equipment for your studio to get the perfect sound clarity and resolution. You could be recording for any kind of digital media like movies, cartoons, websites, television or stores but the rules and equipment are same for all in the case of voice over recording.

One of the best microphones that you have for a voice over recording is the Shure SM57 which has a large A81WS windshield. The best thing about this microphone is that is hugely directional and can block out sounds from everywhere except from that coming in from the front of the microphone. This one is best for voice over recording of non-broadcast narrations like phone messages, greetings and store announcements.  A cheaper alternative to the SM57 is the Electrovoice CO4 which is very similar in appearance to the former but has an extended response that can go as high as 18kHz. This model will cost you only half of what an SM57 will cost but can give you good sound definition and clarity.

AKG C414 is another great microphone for voice over recording purposes. But do not use this if you are recording in a room with very poor acoustics as this equipment is extremely sensitive and can pick up even the slightest external and background noises. You also need to speak into the mike from a considerable distance for producing a natural sound with this one. The Audio Technica AT2020 is another great buy at 70 pounds and will be of great use for voice over recording purposes. Made in China, it comes with a 16mm diaphragm and has a thick foam windshield. The best thing about the AT2020 is that it can be used in rooms with very less acoustic treatment and is a good purchase for the amateur or beginner.

Acoustics is another important part to get the perfect voice over recording experience. There are various ways by which you can improve the acoustic setting of a room to enhance sound clarity and resolution and also block out external and background sound interference. Lining the walls of your studio or room with 40 x 40cm foam acoustic tiles is a great way to lessen the resonance. The SE Electronics Reflexion filter can also be used to improve sound absorption but do not expect a hundred percent result out of this.

One of the best headphones that you can purchase for a voice over recording is the Audio Technica ATH-M40fs which is simply superb. Try to purchase a custom made PC with is relatively silent and has water cooling. If you have the space, it is best to place the PC outside the recording room with the monitor, keyboard and mouse inside to lessen the noise from the PC. Last but not the least, a good sound card is also an absolute must to complete your voice over recording set up.

Umm....I'd say the first one :) I use to have those until my dog ate the cord. Pretty good :)
