akg Microphone Mixer Help me pick a studio microphone, please?!?
So I am pretty much at a crossroads when it comes to picking great studio microphones. I am on a $700 budget and all I want is a pre-amp/audio interface, a microphone, and a cable. I'm not interested in a mixer right now. I have done my research and I have narrowed it down to the Rode NT1-A, Rode NT2-A, AKG Perception 420, and the Audio Technica AT2020. What do you think I should get? AND any suggestions for a good audio interface/pre-amp? Thanks so much in advance
Any of those mics will work great - If I had to pick, maybe the Rode NT-2A. For an interface:
Shure Sm57 Microphone I am teaching piano in my home and I want to record my students playing with video and audio.?
I was looking at the Shure microphones and was considering the SM57 since I am not recording piano professionally. I just want to have a nice sound to add to the video so my students can learn what they did wrong and so fourth. I just want to get a nice sound since the microphone on my video camera is of low quality. Any help will be appreciated.
If you're not going to "do" anything with the recordings other than critique students' playing, errors-and good things, fingerings, etc. there's no need to purchase an expensive mic. I don't understand why the on-camera mic doesn't pick-up the piano sounds good enough for evaluation/improvement. Move the camera closer, cropping in close on the hands/fingers?
I've done the same thing in public school teaching strictly for evaluation and quantitative analysis of numbers of errors made vs. number of correct pitches. Gives you a clear-cut way of rating/grading, with no room for "I didn't play that BAD!" Let's listen/look at the video-tape....
Good Luck!
Half-stack or combo? Everything else is the same...?
I'm considering buying a new amp. There are two in particular that I really like, the Line 6 Spider IV 150W and the Line 6 Spider IV HD150W. As far as I can tell, the only difference between these amps is that one is a halfstack with a 4x12 cab and the other is a 2x12 combo. All the electronics are the same. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with these amps and can tell me if there are any other significant differences. Both amps are solid-state, so tubes are a non-issue.
Would the half-stack be louder due to more speakers or would the combo be louder due to more power being pushed through the speakers? Which would be better for recording with a line-in setup? Which would be better for recording with a microphone (Shure SM57)?

Answer Your Doorbell With Your Mobile Phone While You Are Not At home
Witura Corporation, the designers and manufacturers of a suite of GSM Telecommunications products, today introduced the GSM Intercom & Access Control, a new and revolutionary product aimed at giving emerging businesses high quality and uncompromising services, provides an infallible and cost-effective solution.
Since its initial market launch in April 2009, the WT-9002 GSM Intercom & Access Control has seen a broad market penetration and is approved by many customers with diverse challenging needs and innovative requirements. These versatile ready-to-use gadgets offer total solutions to users to gain a competitive edge in the crowded marketplace.
"This is a cutting edge product far superior to anything in the marketplace," said KC Chin, the President of Witura Corporation. "We expect tremendous sales of this product."
The WT-9002 is a clever application of mobile phone technology which forms part of a gate automation system that allows you to open your gate with your mobile phone regardless of whether you are home or not. It has a wireless intercom in front of your gate that includes a speaker, a microphone and a "Call" push button. When the "Call" push button is pressed by a visitor, the system will call the owner's phone number automatically via the GSM /UMTS network allowing him to speak to the visitor in spite of the location of the telephone being called. Communicate and allow entry from anywhere in the world as there is no limitation on the distance as to how far the system works. No longer let visitors realize you are out or away as every time the Intercom button is pressed a call is made to your mobile. Should the visitor require access to your property when you are not there, opening the door or gates is a simple matter of adding a number into your phone.
The GSM intercom is also linked to an electronic door release, allowing the owner to unlock the front door from the mobile phone keypad, using a password. Should the owner wish to allow entry to the visitor, he merely needs to enter the password on his cellular phone and the visitor is granted access to the premises! The system can call up to 3 mobile phone or land line numbers in the order they were programmed into the system. When the homeowner is at home and doesn't need the GSM mobile functionality, the GSM doorbell can be switched to normal doorbell mode with a single key push.
Another additional feature of the WT- 9002 is its capability to allow up to 1000 registered users to open any garage door or gate with their cellular phone or landline phone …. and all this at ABSOLUTELY NO COST OF A CALL TO THE USER!. If any of these users call the system, it will reject the call and open the gate without any cost of call. However, if the incoming call is not from a registered user, the door will never open. Absolutely foolproof! No hassle. In addition to the cost effective measure, the WT-9002 also comes with 2 inputs which can be connected to motion sensors or magnetic sensors, to smoke detectors, door and window sensors and in the event of any intrusion or break-in, the alarm system will be triggered off and a warning text message will be sent out to 3 cellular phones. Deter possible burglary or break-in attempts by answering your doorbell and giving the impression that you are home when in reality you're not!
The WT-9002 GSM Intercom & Access Control System™ combines a comprehensive package, fully meeting all specifications and resulting in a cost-efficient solution to the state of the art. The product will be of tremendous value to entrepreneurs and commercial users. This is a big benefit in industrial, urban or civilized areas with the ever growing need for such state-of-the-art technology. For example, a practical everyday benefit is having your children come home unexpectedly early from school and being unable to let them in without having to rush home and physically opening the door or missing a courier delivery which requires signing for. By a direct voice connection to the courier, alternative delivery instructions such as a different address to deliver can be communicated or simply to instruct delivery on another day when you will definitely be home.
A regional health authority in Europe has put the Witura GSM Intercom to good use by giving nurses the opportunity to respond more quickly to calls from home patients without first having to drive to a central key-holding depot to collect a front door key. In this manner, when a nurse arrives at a patient's front door and presses the GSM doorbell, the call is taken by the regional call centre, and the operator will be able to open the door. This approach saves time which is crucial in responding to emergency calls from house-bound patients especially in life and death circumstances.
Mr Chin added: "As part of our range, the WT - 9002 will enjoy a presence in markets worldwide. What's more, our customers trust in our global spread of highly innovative products, which are governed by a strict, uniform quality standard that surpasses regional regulations. We ensure complete reliability and durability.
...... It's this commitment to quality that gives our customers supreme products and peace of mind."
Our marketing and sales staffs, together with our research and production teams, both in China and Malaysia, are committed to providing outstanding products and services to support customers in applying new materials and technologies such as these."

Headset Mic shure What earphones should I get for my iPhone?
I am interested in buying earphones with mic+music controller. I recently owned the Etymotic ER-6 but lost them along with the iPhone bud. :[ I would like an improvement from the ER-6s.
I've been looking at these two, only knowing about these two companies.
Hi I have an iPhone and unfortunately needs earphones that have a microphone with it. Are these earphones worth it? Have you tried them? http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=1232474&pid=1218239170477&catId=abcat0204000&ev=prodView
Sorry, but they are way overexpensive comapred to their sound quality. Please choose something better like Bose or Sennheiser instead!
