My microphone has a light on but, I can't see it on my computer I'm on a mac and it's not in the finder it's brand new and garage band won't list it in my options.

you should go down to the local music shop and talk to the guy in the store, there are two different types of micropones, one is used for studio rec and the other for live stage etc. Tell the guy what you want to use it for and he'll explain all the differences and suggest a few options. Specific brands WONT matter, they seriously dont UNLESS youre setting up a fully professional rec studio, you should be able to buy something that will work beautifully for around the hundred dollar mark. I have a studio and I sometimes work with a twenty dollar plastic cheap no-name Karaoke mic that works extremely well and NO-ONE has EVER been able to TELL that it wasnt something expensive. And seriously even I cant tell the difference. By going to the shop, they will be able to demonstrate them and you'll be able to hear what youre getting before you spend money on something you dont particularly like. You dont have to spend a fortune to get good quality gear.

Blue Snowball Microphone Blue Snowball Microphone and Mixcraft 5.2?
Okay, so i'm trying to record my voice, but the track seems to be louder than my voice. So, I tried turning the track down, but then you can't really understand what I'm saying and I'm speaking pretty clear so I don't understand why it's not recording loud and clear. My voice is somewhat deep, so when i get too close to the mic, it makes a vibrating sound sort of after it's mixed down to an mp3 file...How can I make my voice louder and more clear without screaming at the top of my lungs and being too close to the mic, using mixcraft 5.2 and the Blue Snowball microphone?
Try adding the Classic Compressor effect to the vocal track and experiment with the different presets.

I'm debating whether I should buy a Zoom H2 or the Audio Technica AT2020 USB. I like the H2 for portability, but it seems that the AT2020 is better for specialized vocals. The AT2020 however, cannot be taken wherever I go. Should I buy a H2 for the portability and make a sacrifice for vocals?
